You’ve thanked Alex a hundred times.  And you’ve told those volunteers how important their contributions are to residents.  Now it’s time to take the “thank yous” beyond the walls of your facility.  Now it's time to recognize them so others can see and appreciate their contributions.

Care Providers of Minnesota’s award program offers the chance to thank employees, volunteers, special programs, community members, and others for their outstanding contributions.  With 16 award categories – including the new DARE TO BE GREAT award – there’s ample opportunity for you to show your appreciation.  And now is the time to do it.

Award program booklets listing all the award categories, criteria, and deadlines were sent to all members last week (if you would like additional copies, please contact Lisa Olson at the Association office).  Please take a moment to look through the booklet to see who you can nominate.  Nominations for Care Providers of Minnesota awards are due by May 30, 2008.  Recipients will be recognized, in front of their peers, at the annual convention in November.  Media releases will be sent to recipients' local papers, so others outside the Association can know of their contributions.

In addition, AHCA/NCAL also has awards.  We will nominate our 2008 adult and youth volunteer award recipients to AHCA/NCAL Volunteer of the Year Awards.  In addition, for assisted living facilities, NCAL has three additional awards for which you can apply:

• NCAL Administrator of the Year Award
• National Assisted Living Week Programming Award, and
• Nobel Caregiver in Assisted Living Award.  (Please note:  The Association has to submit awards to NCAL, so please send them to us and we will forward them to NCAL.)
