Life Settlement Funding for Senior Housing and Care – Free Web Seminar on September 3
By Cheryl Smith Life Settlements are a rapidly growing financial planning option for seniors to cover housing and care expenses. It is the sale of a life insurance policy while the policy holder is still alive to an institutional investor that will pay a lot more than the cash “surrender" value and then carry the policy as an investment for the remaining life span of the policy owner. This market emerged ten years ago because the value of life insurance is guaranteed. All of the major players on Wall Street (Morgan, Chase, Goldman, AIG, etc.), global financial players and major hedge funds are competing to buy these policies. For seniors faced with the prospect of selling their home, or tapping into securities or savings in this economy, this is a chance to consider accessing an asset that will not fluctuate in value. Settling a life insurance policy also gives one the chance to liquidate a less dearly held asset than a home or stocks. Any way to overcome financial hurdles so that seniors can secure the best possible senior housing and care arrangements is in the best interest of the individual, their family, the facility and state government. Presenter: Chris Orestis held senior positions on a number of political campaigns before working in 1993 and 1994 for the White House and the Senate Majority Leader. Chris then represented the health and life insurance industry as VP and Senior VP for the Health Insurance Association of America and the American Council of Life Insurers. As senior management for both organizations, he was responsible for external affairs and activities related to revenue generation. Chris, a principal with Life Care Funding Group, is an expert on insurance and LTC issues, and is a featured columnist and Contributing Editor to a number of industry publications.
