Secretary of State Posts New Voting Information for Residents and Employees of Residential Facilities
By Larry Johnson

The Minnesota Secretary of State’s office recently posted voting information for residents and employees of residential facilities.  This information can be found by clicking HERE.

Residents of residential facilities who wish to vote may pre-register, vote by absentee ballot, or register to vote on Election Day.  If a resident needs to prove their residence in a precinct for the purposes of registering to vote on Election Day, an employee of the facility may “vouch” for the voter.  The information includes how an employee can “vouch” for a resident on Election Day  and provides general information for residents, staff and families.

In addition, the Secretary of State has compiled a list of frequently asked questions about residential facility vouching.  We have posted this list as a PDF file in the Advocacy section of our website.  You can find it HERE.

Please contact Larry Johnson at (952) 851-2482 if you or your staff have any further questions.
