Think the Cost of Gifts Is High? Check Out THIS Holiday Price Tag!
By Rachel David While most people shopping for holiday gifts are purchasing more realistic items, we thought you might be interested to know that the cost of purchasing the items in the traditional Twelve Days of Christmas song has gone up 9.2 percent this year. The increase is mostly due to the 30% rise in the price of gold (for the five gold rings), in addition to higher wages for some of the entertainers in the bunch. The cost for the Partridge in a Pear Tree, by contrast, only rose 1.3 percent to $161. This is the second-highest jump ever, behind the 16 percent rise in costs in 2003. If you purchased all of the items online, the total cost would come to $34,336. I for one am glad not to have to make any holiday purchases with such a hefty price tag, and I imagine you are as well. If you’d like to read more detail on the cost of these items for 2010, go to www.christmaspriceindex.com. Whatever you choose to buy and however you plan to celebrate, everyone at Care Providers of Minnesota wishes you a happy and safe holiday season. Rachel David |
