FREE and IMPORTANT Webinar on Data Reporting for the Transition to the MN RUG-IV Payment
By Todd Bergstrom

Care Providers of Minnesota, Aging Services of Minnesota, and the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) are hosting a free Data Reporting for the Transition to the Minnesota RUG-IV Payment System webinar on Wednesday, Feb. 16 from 2:00PM to 3:30PM.

During the 2009 legislative session, a provision was passed that requires the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) to establish procedures for the transition from the resource utilization group (RUG) system, version III to IV when determining classifications for nursing facility residents for rate setting purposes beginning January 1, 2012. It is DHS’s intent to recalculate payment rates in a facility-specific revenue-neutral manner so that overall payments under RUG-IV will be at the same level as they would have been under RUG-III.

In order to calculate revenue-neutral conversion rates, it is necessary for providers to collect and submit census data by payor source for the 6-month time period ending June 30, 2011, under both the RUG-III and RUG-IV class systems. There will be a webinar to provide detailed instructions for obtaining and completing the electronic reporting forms and how to submit the required data to the department.

To sign up for the webinar, please register at  https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/882364929.
Note, you will receive a confirmation of the sign-up from Aging Services of Minnesota.

Why should I attend this webinar?
Spending the time to learn the requirements and processes up front will help you avoid mistakes that may take a lot of time to fix after the fact:

  • To ensure that this transition is revenue-neutral for your facility;
  • To ensure that DHS has the information needed to set your 1/1/2012 rates;
  • To ensure that your new rate notice for 1/1/2012 will be issued on a timely basis;
  • To avoid a 15% Medicaid payment withhold due to incomplete, inaccurate or late data submission.

Participants: Nursing home Administrators, Business Office staff and Central Office staff.

Content: Instructional presentation

Topics covered in the presentations will include:

  • Introduction and overview of this transition process and why it is necessary (this will be Jeff and/or Todd)
  • Identification of the data elements that each facility will need to collect (Kim)
  • Technical walk through of the tracking and report submission process (Kim)

Presenters:
Todd Bergstrom, Care Providers of Minnesota
Jeff Bostic, Aging Services of Minnesota
Kim Brenne, State Program Administrator, NFRP Division, DHS
