Deadline to Submit Bronze National Quality Award Program Applications Approaching
By Doug Beardsley

The deadline for the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living Bronze Quality Award is February 28, 2011. Silver and Gold applications are due March 15, 2011. Application materials are available here. Organizations interested in applying must have already submitted an “Intent to Apply” application.

The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program provides a pathway for providers of long-term care services to journey towards performance excellence. The program is based on the core values and criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program. The Quality Award program has three progressive step levels: Bronze – Commitment to Quality; Silver – Achievement in Quality; and Gold – Excellence in Quality. Applications are judged by trained examiners who provide feedback on opportunities for improvement to support continuous learning. Facilities must achieve an award at each level to progress to the next level. Minnesota already boasts over 80 organizations that have achieved the Bronze level (previously known as Step I).
