2011 Care Providers of Minnesota Awards Program Begins!
By Lisa Foss Olson

It was wonderful to have another opportunity to recognize an employee who goes above and beyond in their care. There are so many wonderful things that happen on our campus each day. Finding them and sharing them instills pride in our employees. The Care Providers of Minnesota Award program allows us to reach a broader audience to share our stories. What an honor to be selected as an award recipient. We seek every opportunity to share with our customers that we have the “Caregiver of the Year for 2010” on our staff. Thank you Care Providers!

On Monday, March 21st, the 2011 Care Providers of Minnesota Awards Program officially began, with the awards packet posted on the Association website and Facebook page.

This is the second year we’re green, meaning it’s all electronic: the entire packet—from award descriptions and criteria, timeline and instructions, and nomination form—is all online.

But this is the first year that we’re issuing this challenge (or goal): Why not set the bar even higher and nominate a lot of deserving people—maybe even one for every award category?

There are many categories from which to choose—whether that’s an employee, volunteer, or someone outside your organization who deserves acknowledgement for their contributions.

Here are a few suggestions to make all your award goals easier:

  • Develop an awards team to select candidates for each category. The process can be fun and serves to generate enthusiasm among employees, residents, and families.
  • Encourage others to nominate—place the awards packet in your break room and ask for suggestions from staff.
  • Develop a timeline for the nominations: each Friday, send in a nomination or two!
  • Read the eligibility criteria thoroughly and address each point in your nomination. (Note: nominations that are incomplete will not be judged.)

The deadline for nominations is Monday, May 23, 2011, so the countdown has started. You have 9 weeks in which to recognize outstanding people and programs in your organization.
