Is Your Nursing Facility Collecting Census Data for the Transition to the MN RUG-IV on January 1, 2012?
By Todd Bergstrom During the 2009 legislative session, a provision was passed that requires the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the MN Department of Health (MDH) to establish procedures for the transition from the resource utilization group (RUG) system, version III to version IV when determining classifications for nursing facility residents for rate setting purposes beginning January 1, 2012. It is DHS’s intent to recalculate payment rates in a facility-specific revenue-neutral manner so that overall payments under RUG-IV will be at the same level as they would have been under RUG-III. In order to calculate revenue-neutral conversion rates, it is necessary for providers to collect and submit census data by payor source for the 6-month time period beginning on January 1, 2011 and ending June 30, 2011, under both the RUG-III and RUG-IV class systems. In case you missed it or if you need a refresher, the Data Reporting for the Transition to the Minnesota RUG-IV Payment System webinar that Care Providers of Minnesota, Aging Services of Minnesota, and the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) hosted on Wednesday, Feb. 16 is now archived and available online. The webinar provides detailed instructions for obtaining and completing the electronic reporting forms and how to submit the required data to the department. View the webinar and handout (note the webinar may take a few minutes to download). Why should I watch this webinar?
Participants: Nursing home administrators, business office staff and central office staff. Please contact Todd Bergstrom at the Association office if you have any questions. Todd Bergstrom |
