Resource Helps Friends and Families Plan for Care and Services
By Patti Cullen, CAE

Oftentimes members are ready to send clients home after a period of rehabilitation, but aren’t always certain their clients have the resources they need once they are home. Well, we recently stumbled upon a free website service that you may want to pass on to families as they are figuring out the family caregiving schedule. Lotsa Helping Hands helps to answer the question what can I do to help?

What is Lotsa Helping Hands?
Free, private, web-based communities for organizing friends, family, and colleagues—your ‘circles of community’—during times of need. Easily coordinate activities and manage volunteers with our intuitive group calendar.

Everyone knows what to do and when to do it. Energy is spent helping, not scheduling. Families in crisis are often overwhelmed with many offers of help and phone calls to return. For friends and family looking for ways to help a friend or loved one, Lotsa Helping Hands can create a private community to:

  • Organize well-meaning offers of help for meals delivery, rides, and visits
  • Easily communicate and share updates using announcements, message boards, and photos
  • Safely store vital information

The website also includes a section for “Eldercare”—adult children caring for an aging parent help their loved ones extend their independent living, stay connected when caring from a distance, keep track of vital medical, financial, and legal information, and coordinate meals and visits. Create a Community.
