Registration Open for Clinical Best Practices Seminar with Dr. Chuck Gokoo
By Cheryl Smith

“Great presenter”
“Knowledgeable and articulate”
“Provides a lot of information”
“Like his style of teaching”
“An expert on wounds”

Those are just a few of the comments received from past presentations by Dr. Chuck Gokoo. On Thursday, June 9, Dr. Gokoo will present a full day of clinical information on two topics:

Pain—The Fifth Vital Sign
Pain is a common, subjective experience for many older adults residing in long-term care centers. While pain may be a factor associated with many disease processes, pain is not a normal part of aging. The recognition of pain in the long-term care setting remains challenging where evaluation, interventions, and management are concerned. For example, cognitive impairment represents a particular challenge because older adults with these conditions may be unable to verbalize their pain.

A Clinical Guide to Pressure Ulcer Assessment
The best practice for pressure ulcers depends on accurate assessment and differential diagnosis to effectuate management. Assessment drives therapy management and signals progress or problems in the healing process. Improperly or incompletely assessed wounds/ulcers can create all types of problems, including incorrect treatment.

Dr. Chuck Gokoo, MD, CWS, FACCWS, is the chief medical officer for American Medical Technologies. Early in his 30-year medical career, he recognized a need for science-based interventions in wound management. He is a member of multiple professional organizations and editorial boards, a diplomat of the American Academy of Wound Management and a founder, as well as a fellow, of The American College of Certified Wound Specialists.

Register today for this full-day, best practices clinical program taught by a national expert.
