AHCA Announces New Government Affairs Staff
By Patti Cullen, CAE Last week the American Health Care Association (AHCA) announced that Jeff Myers, a 25-year veteran of advocating health policy initiatives on and off Capitol Hill, will join the Association as its new senior vice president of policy and government relations. Myers began his career working in the U.S. House of Representatives for Reps. Don Sundquist and Alex McMillan. He served as McMillan’s lead health staff during the 1994 health care reform debate. After Congressman McMillan retired, Myers moved to Rep. Fred Upton’s office and served as his legislative director and health staff for the Health Subcommittee on the Energy and Commerce Committee. After leaving Capitol Hill, Myers spent 10 years representing the pharmaceutical industry before Congress and the Administration. In 2006, he was named vice president of government affairs and public policy for Cephalon, Inc., where he oversaw every legislative initiative for the midsized pharmaceutical company. Myers also served as the company’s PAC chair, as well as a founding member of America’s Specialty Medicine Coalition (ASMC). He received his B.A. from Rhodes College of Tennessee, and his M.B.A. from Duke University. Myers resides in McLean, Virginia with his wife and three children. Patti Cullen, CAE |
