Minnesota DOC Seeks Nursing Home Beds
Submitted by the Department of Corrections

Due to law changes in 2006, the Department of Corrections (DOC) is finding it increasingly difficult to find nursing homes willing to take released sex offenders into their facility. Therefore, they have requested that we run an article to inform you of DOC’s desire to find suitable placement for these individuals.

The department is seeking 20-40 beds in an isolated area of a facility that would be able to house male and female sex offenders. DOC would prefer if the residence would be near a hospital or other medical facility.

The DOC has no interest in owning or operating these beds, and simply wants to fulfill its obligation to provide good medical release planning for these offenders.

As you are aware, there are specific legal requirements associated with these admissions. If you are interested or want more information, Contact Department of Corrections Health Services Director Nanette M. Larson, 651-361-7280 or Nanette.Larson@state.mn.us.
