Neither scorching sun nor the rumble of thunder kept 120 golfers and nearly 40 hole tenders and event sponsors from doing their part to support the Care Providers of Minnesota Foundation this week. The record-breaking attendance meant that the Foundation surpassed its $15,000 fundraising goal, as Lisa Abicht-Swensen, chairperson of the Foundation, proudly reported at the tournament’s reception.

Golfers took precautions for the heat and hole sponsors and staff offered plenty of water—both in bottled and super-soaker form—throughout the tournament; only one golfer left the course for heat-related reasons and the vast majority of golfers gamely played through all 18 holes.

Taking home top honors this year was the foursome of Jason Skolaski and Ryan Viets, Healthcare Services Group; Tim Bush, Tealwood Care Centers; and Paxton Wiffler, Golden Living. The second place foursome included: Luke Schryvers, Allan Barr, Dana Deacon, and Chris Buege, all of Golden LivingCenter – Slayton. “Last But Not Least” honors went to: Amy Wiffler and Heather Rommes, Extendicare; Kristie Johnsrud, Health and Rehabilitation of New Brighton; and Dawn Wozniak, Texas Terrace Care Center.

The tournament was capped with the drawing of the winning Wall of Beer raffle ticket. Lance Garrison, Bywood East Health Care, was the lucky recipient.
