Managing Healthcare Effectively Program Set for October 1
By Patti Cullen, CAE

Metropolitan State University is hosting the first Manzara/Seiler Lecture Series on Saturday, October 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on their St. Paul Campus. The conference, Managing Healthcare Effectively: Implementation, may be of interest to members. The keynote speaker is Dr. Stephen T. Parente, Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. Dr. Parente is a nationally-known and respected expert on health policy. There will also be a number of well-known health care experts on the two panels. In addition to providing some basic background information about the new health care environment, the program will address a range of issues such as:

  • How can managers think about the challenges of providing quality health care for their employees in a cost-effective way?
  • How are public as well as private organizations affected by the new health care laws?
  • Health care as a cost of doing business: What are the economics of domestic health care costs vs. international costs and international competition? How does this create an unequal playing field, and what strategies can be used to compensate for this?
  • What are some of the insurance-related and entrepreneurial issues?
