Long-Term Care Providers Online Connection | Action
Convention Opening Day Filled with Events and Activities
By Cyndi Spencer

We look forward to welcoming you to the 2011 Convention & Exposition, November 14–16, and promise an Enriching & Inspiring experience from start to finish. If this will be your first time at the Convention, look for the “First Time Attendee” table in the Nicollet Promenade during the Coffee Welcomes. We’ll have some materials to make navigating the Convention easier, and hosts will be on hand to offer tips for making your Convention experience as beneficial as possible.

We are extremely pleased that our opening keynote presenter this year will be AHCA/NCAL President & CEO Gov. Mark Parkinson. Learn more about the opportunities and challenges long-term and post-acute care providers face from the perspective of our national association’s new leader. Gov. Parkinson will also help present awards to some of this year’s outstanding recipients.

For a quick lunch after the opening session, check out the Convention specials that will be offered at Spikes and Taxxi restaurants in the Hyatt. Both will be featuring special menu items that will make it easy for you to enjoy lunch AND be at the first breakout sessions at 12:30 p.m.

There will be three series of breakout sessions on Monday, with nearly 30 sessions offering topics targeted toward all disciplines. Owners, administrators, and managers will be especially interested in attending the CEO Connection, which begins at 2 p.m. Nancy Rehkamp, Larson Allen principal, health care, will be presenting “Preparing for ACOs and Value-Based Reimbursement.” The Association’s Annual Meeting will immediately follow the CEO Connection. There have been many significant changes on the legislative/regulatory scene, some of which are just unfolding. Learn more about the impact to long-term care and what the immediate future holds. Credentialled attendees will also participate in the election of board members and officers.

The Expo Hall will open at 5 p.m. for a preview and reception. Leaders and decision-makers in particular are encouraged to spend some time in the hall with our business partners. After that, take time for a quick dinner — then plan to join us in the Nicollet Ballroom at 7:30 p.m., in time for the kick-off of the Minnesota Vikings/Green Bay Packers football game. No matter where your loyalties lie, it will be a fun evening for sports fans to gather, enjoy some refreshments, and cheer on their team.

Have you registered for Convention yet? You can register easily online here.
