Important Information on Minnesota Health Care Programs and 5010
By Todd Bergstrom The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) asked Care Providers of Minnesota to publish the following important information. Effective 1/1/12, MN–ITS will accept and process only 5010 batch files and POS (point of sale) will accept and process only D.0. Direct data entry (DDE) will be 5010 compliant. Batch billers must test with Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) before 1/1/12 to submit 5010 batch files on and after 1/1/12, and to receive payment from MHCP for those batch file claims. Syntax testing started on 9/28/11 and will continue after 5010 implementation for new and current batch billers. Providers or their batch billers who are not 5010 production-ready will be able to use the MN–ITS direct data entry function to submit transactions starting 1/1/12. To convert MN–ITS to the 5010 format and POS to the D.0 format: MN–ITS will be unavailable starting at 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2011, and become available again in the 5010 format at 8:00 a.m., Sunday, January 1, 2012. Point of sale will be unavailable starting at 10:00 p.m., Saturday, December 31, 2011, and become available again in the D.0 format at midnight, Sunday, January 1, 2012. To be 5010 production-ready and receive payment from MHCP for batch claims submitted starting 1/1/12, providers and their batch billing staff must review the following:
