By Phil Manz The Minnesota Department of Human Services has released three succinct documents to help stakeholders understand the expansion of managed care for people with disabilities which commenced on January 1 and will be fully implemented by July 1. Remember that participation in managed care is voluntary, and this does not cover the disability waiver services. The documents are: What is Special Needs BasicCare? A two-page handout written for a participant MA fee-for-service vs. Special Needs BasicCare (technical term for managed care): A two-page comparison of the options available for participants Special Needs BasicCare (SNBC) program expands in 2012: A three-page handout explaining the changes occurring now. A fuller description of these programs in available on the DHS website at http://www.dhs.state.mn.us/main/documents/dhs16_139491. One can also access the handouts from the December 8 videoconference on this subject at http://www.dhs.state.mn.us/main/dhs16_164001. Phil Manz |
