Questions Galore from Participants at March 2008 Meetings Featuring DHS on EWCL

By Phil Manz

At the March Regional Meetings, Darlene Schroeder and Jolene Kohn gave presentations on the EW Customized Living Contract Planning Worksheet.  The questions and issues generated at these meetings have been sent to DHS.  The response we received said, “thanks, this is very helpful for us in developing additional technical assistance.”  Darlene and Jolene also sent along their appreciation to the meeting hosts and to the approximately 250 people who attended the meetings.

Below is a sampling of the questions forwarded to DHS:

Isn’t there a conflict when a county is the case manager for a health plan, in terms of people appealing the decisions made by the case manager?

How does a provider reconcile a physician note requiring 24 hour supervision with an assessment that will only pay for 18 hours of supervision?

How far does assistance in setting up non-medical appointments go?

What is the impact of multiple county or health plan workers?

How does a provider get paid for a plan to prevent falls?

What do we do with or can we get paid for dealing with assertive to agitated families?

The entire list of questions and issues sent to DHS is available on the Care Providers of Minnesota website at Find It Here / Housing / Senior Health Care / Questions and Issues Generated at March 2008 Regional Meetings.  We will continue to solicit your feedback and input on these questions and issues.
